Yea good point i am asuming that you are using a seprate sata internal drive NOT your C drive as the read write drive

Can you use PS2 plugs for mouse and key and no USB at all for a test as well?

I would sure like to see that IRQ not sharing with the chip sets and usb, Can you move to a new slot so as to change the IRQ maybe?

Yes on the x58 and so on but i am refering to the 5100 5500 5600 north B chip sets and the ICH souths

The dp35 intel board

"The only memory speeds supported are 667Mhz (PC-5400) and 800Mhz (PC-6400), with no option to tweak timings or voltages. The board only supports DDR2 DIMMS that operate at 1.8v, so read the RAM specs carefully. With this board, you will be best off with manufacturers "value" series, rather than high-end DIMMs targeted at overclockers. Some examples are OCZ DDR2 PC-6400 System Elite series OCZ2SE8002GK or Kingston ValueRAM KVR800D2N5K2/2G. Be sure to take advantage of the board's dual channel memory capabilities"

If I where him, I'd try to revert to the stock MS driver for your video card. See if the errors go away after that. I think it's very problematic to have a USB and core card one the same IRQ. Hope this helps.

yea, I agree, I don't like to see anything shared like that. I am most concerned about the south b chip set. By the way, How do you manage to FORCE the use of windows video drivers?

When I moved to PT9 on Windows 7 I've also experienced a great amount of -6031s and nothing seemed to help - tried out all the software / BIOS tweaks / reverting to MS driver, moving cards around etc. However I was finally able to get this sorted simply by replacing my Nvidia 9400GT card with an ATI Radeon 4350. Solved all my issues instantly. Not a single -6031 ever since, the system is now rock solid. But that was a very frustrating experience so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. Good luck!

since i did not have more than a couple days of downtime that i could afford, i reverted back to XP + PT 7.4.

i will be putting together a new machine and tweaking out the Win 7 / PT 9 combo until it works.

Hi everyone,

I've been having the same, extremely frustrating problem with PT9.
After a couple of seconds of playback (1 mono track, no plugins!), I get the -6031 error.

I run a HD|1 PCI-X on a Asus P5K WS board with a Q6600
And I run Win 7 x64 (just reformated to see if it fixed anything, to no avail)

I've tried everything mentioned in this thread, and nothing seems to work unfortunatly.
The only thing I can add here, is that I also run a OSX86 partition running OSX 10.6 on the same system.
Here, PT9 HD runs flawlessly!

So it must have something to do with the drivers and/or Windows settings. I've also cleared away everything on the core cards IRQ, but that didn't help anything.

If there is anyone who can shed some light on this topic, that would be great.
I'm going to try different Grafics cards also in the coarse of the next few days (having friends who own a computer store helps ), and I'll post back if I have found anything.

Cheers,
Alex

I'm sorry to hear that.
Definitely don't give up and try a different graphics card. On my system the fix was as simple as that.
Good luck and keep us posted!
