Is there a way to simultaneously record 16 tracks or more, in Pro Tools?
I have had this problem, and the most I can record is two tracks. How can I record up
to 16 tracks or more, at the same time? Are there any other equipment I have to add/buy, or can it be done by sending the 8 ins on the 888|24 IO to my mixer? Will that work like an 8 track recorder in Pro Tools? If I did that, will I be able to record 8 seperate tracks at once? And if I added 2 more 888|24s will it work like a 24 multitrack recorder? What about with an ADAT? Thanks in advance. ------------------ NigMa Productions - Let us produce your next hip hop tracks, or demos. http://www.mp3.com/tycoon

PT|24 can record up to 32 simultaneous tracks. PT|Mix can record up to 64. You can add more interfaces to allow more simultaneous inputs up to a maximum of 72.

Re: Is there a way to simultaneously record 16 tracks or more, in Pro Tools?
Hi Tycoon,
The following information is based on the assumption that you are recording in Pro Tools for NT. First let's focus on recording 8 tracks simultaneously since the 888|24 does this by design. Create a new session and add 8 new tracks. Go into the mix window and look at the channel strips. The first channel should say "#1/1|888/", the second "#1/2|888/", the third "#1/3|888/", and so on for the eight channels. These are the inputs for the channels. By record enabling all 8 tracks, you can record 8 tracks simultaneously. In order to get output out of the other ports, you must select the output in the channel strip. Click on the "#1/12|888" button on the strip and set the output to the appropriate output. To achieve more channels such as 16 or 24, add another 888|24 to the system, making sure to connect them to the cards and slave them via superclock. J. Wolf Digi Tech. Supt. |

Thanks for the info, exactly what I wanted to hear. I knew it was possible. Also which is better 888|24 or Motu 2408? My friend is building his studio, and I was trying convince him that the 888 were better, but he proved my wrong. Can you
even use Motu 2408 and protools together? ------------------ NigMa Productions - Let us produce your next hip hop tracks, or demos. http://www.mp3.com/tycoon

One question rings - have you taken some time to read the installation guide?
The answers to your questions are right there. |
