Where is 12.8?

In fairness, prior to the subscription model waiting 5-6 months for a new version wouldn't have seemed unusual at all. But as you said, after using regular updates as a selling point for the subscription model it does seem longer.

the only thing i can figure is: they have some sort of ShowStopper Issue that is not allowing them to release 12.8 !!! i am willing to wait for something like that ..

are they getting close to the legal limit for putting out an update ??

No it's actually Just what I feared....exactly what we had imagined (with the subscription model)

Agreed. There were red flags with the Avid ahem "subscription" model right off the bat.

When you pay for a subscription, generally it is a pay as you go service. The reinstatement penalty is red flag 1.

The really stinky part is that traditionally with subscription models, you don't pay for the software as a purchase, AND then also pay a subscription. It is generally one or the other. Avid got it both ways. Red flag 2.

In terms of $$, for some the cost is trivial, but it is the principle (or lack thereof) that indicated to me what was to come. And it really hasn't surprised me either.

I agree. I don't really see the benefit for users, compared to the paid x.0 updates in the past. Although they have stretched it before...remember the update pricing for Pro Tools 9?

I keep going back to PT12.4 'cos it's solid and does not crash.....

No release since that has been as solid and trouble free. I cannot live with any release that has video problems.

2 X current HD subscriptions and I'm still on 12.4 which came out when.....? ;-)

Makes me think about my $399 per year eh?
