Jumping from 9 to 10 in Multi-mode on Dcontrol?
I have a mix session coming up that will be too large for our 1 HD6 system to handle. We have the ability to rent an HDX system that I plan on running via Multi-Mode to handle the extra load. Has anyone had any trouble going from 9 to 10 and back in multi-mode on a dcontrol?

Should work as expected. The session - 9 or 10 - should be irrelevant as far as multi mode is concerned.
As far as session compatibility goes between your HD system and the HDX system, you have to make sure you save the .ptx session in HDX / PT 10 under a previous formaty when going back to the PT 9 / HD system. Use the save session copy in to do this. You can toggle multi mode on the controller modules as follows : Press and hold the Solo switch in the Focus Channel Strip (on a Main Unit) or on the leftmost channel strip (on a Fader Module) for approximately three seconds. Make sure the correct modules are assigned on each of the satellite systems. |

Warning!
I have yet to see "save as pt9" work properly... missing fades, improper fades, sync issues with rendered clip gain, issues with region groups. Once you go to 10 I would not recommend trying to save as 9.... I've lost days trying this.

Re: Jumping from 9 to 10 in Multi-mode on Dcontrol?
I agree, what a headache.... For this particular setup we are running two separate systems. No need to save a 10 session in 9 or the other way around. The 10 system (music) is just chasing our 9 rig (dia/fx). The only issue we ran into was making sure that the Dcontrol firmware had the latest version updated.
Thanks guys! |

Did the D-Control require a firmware update for PT10? I believe my D-Command did.

it did. I believe it was part of PT10 installer.

Re: Jumping from 9 to 10 in Multi-mode on Dcontrol?
I usually work in PT10 on both my systems, but occasionally I'll boot my systems from my PT9 partitions and try to run my D-Command using PT9, it prompts me that I have the wrong firmware installed. That would seem to suggest that there might be problems using mixed versions of PT in multi mode. I've never tried it, so I don't know for sure, but it might be a bit kludgy.
