Default DigiTest not recognizing SYNC I/O firmware update files?

I have a SYNC I/O wired to the core card of an HD3 system, through an expansion chassis. I'm on OS 10.4.10, just upgraded from HD 7.3 to 7.4 and ran the CS3 update. I'm getting an error when I open PT saying I need to update from 1.1.1 to 1.1.4 SYNC firmware, however when I look in the PT utilities folder the 1.1.4 is already there in the SYNC I/O folder. So I downloaded the firmware update anyway from digi's site and tried to run DigiTest to update. When I'm prompted to find the firmware file (Begin Update), it does not allow me to select any files and they're all gray (including both the new firmware I downloaded and the existing firmware in the utilities folder). I've recently made the same upgrade with another system running a SYNC HD and it worked as it should and I also tried running the same scenario on another 7.3 system with a SYNC I/O (running 10.4.11) and it seems to work properly.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The file needed should be on the system you're installing from - the message means that an earlier version is on the Sync I/O or Sync HD itself, you don't need to download it from Digidesign. What may have caught you (I'm guessing but it caught me!) is that Digitest often defaults to a random card being connected to the Sync peripheral in the drop-down list at the top rather than the actual card connected - usually the Core card.

Good luck,
Pete

Well it did default, but it was to the core card and I even tried switching them around with no luck there. I've also confirmed that's the case on the hardware.

I did point to it to the files that were already on the system and it gave me the same gray'ed issue.

Had same problem, but I think I figured it out...

DigiTest upgrade didn't recognize the downloaded file - sitting on my desktop, but when I pointed it to the same file, living in the ProTools folder it worked just fine. Try navigating the updater to:

.../Applications/Digidesign/Pro Tools/Pro Tools Utilities/SYNC IO
