Zoom with Mac
Dear friends,
I am just moving from Protools for Windows to the Mac version. I now have an iMac, but i'm struggling to be able to figure out some shortcuts. The biggest problem i'm facing now is the editing workflow. With my windows system i could move the sound cursor along the recorded track and at the same time use the the zoom keys (r and t) to zoom in the exact spot in real time where the click or some other problem is. My problem with the Mac is that when i click the left mouse cursor all the keyboard freezes and i can't zoom in unless i take the finger of the click. That is annoying and is messing out my workflow, because it takes a long time to find the problems in my track. Is there any way to make this option work on the iMac? Could be some function that is locked? How do you guys do to find the clicks? Thank you very much for any help you can possibly give. Greetings, Filipe |

Re: Zoom with Mac
It should work, there may be some OSX Preference that is preventing this but I'm not sure what one it could be
wired or wireless keyboard?

Re: Zoom with Mac
Thank you for your answer.
I'm using a wired keyboard. I'm using Protools 11 along with Maverics. I had some other issues with shortcuts. For example. When i first was trying to record using Comand+Space, the Mac was using that shortcut for language selection in Maverics. So i had to change the keyboard settings to disable that language selection option. But for this specific problem i don't know what to do? What might be wrong? Thanks for any help anyone can give me. Greetings, Filipe |

Re: Zoom with Mac
Really? That's quite drastic! But the zoom shortcuts work well. I just can't zoom while i'm clicking the mouse cursor.

As to zooming while left clicking - there's no need to hold the mouse button down. Place the timeline cursor where you want it and then zoom without holding the left click. You have to remember that Windoze and OSX work differently and you can't expect the to have same functions in both operating systems. |

Re: Zoom with Mac
I got so used to clicking and holding while zooming. I have the same problem after switching to Maverick from Windows 7. The zoom while click/holding allows me to hold on to the precious, one in thousand, clips while zooming out to find the drop point, then zooming back in for a precise drop. Now I have to resort to C and V. The funny thing is that the zoom is actually working but doesn't visually update until you let go of the mouse button. I couldn't believe that I could do that on Windows with real time visual feedback!
