Default Routing Kontakt as a multi timbral instrument

Hi Folks,
I'm trying to route Kontakt as a multi timbral instrument in PT 10.
Please see screenshot 1. In this photo "Kontakt st 2" appears in the plug in section for this track and is on top and checked.
In screenshot 2, I should see "Kontakt st 3" but "Kontakt st 2" is my only option... Why?? This is driving me nuts!
Thanks for any help.
Cheers,
walter

Setup in Kontakt's I/O for st2, st3 etc...

Depending on your version, this use to be in standalone first.
Save as default.

Thanks for you answer. I already have 3 tracks set up in Kontakt. On the screenshot, you can see them at the bottom.

It's hard to tell from the screen shot, but if you look to the left of the "Kontakt st 2" for each track, it should say something like "inst 1" for one track, and "inst 2" for the other. The "Kontakt st 2" would then be correct for each of the plugin sources. Kind of confusing, but that may be what's going on.

Your screenshots are blurry and unreadable. If you can't get this sorted on your own email me at my forum email address and I'll send you a pair of output.config files that will give you 8 and 16 stereo outputs in Kontakt.

So, starting with the basics ....

Within Kontakt itself, how many 'st' outputs have you created? I find it convenient to set up 16, and there is an option (onc you've created them) to set the current configuration as the default.

Assuming you have created multiple outputs within Kontakt, AND have loaded multiple sounds within Kontakt, have you set each sound within Kontakt to respond to a different MIDI channel and to send the audio to a different Kontakt output?

Only then can you properly set up Kontakt within Pro Tools to be a multi-tmbral instrument with each Pro Tools Instrument Track sending MIDI to a different sound, and receiving the relevant audio (only) back into the instrument track.
