PT9 Win7x64 (-9128) errors +
Hello. I could sure use some help. I've been dealing with tons of 9128 errors since installing Win7x64 and PT9.0.1 on my i7. The CPU(rtas) meter is only at about 25%. Often less. I've tried all the optimizations and Bios tweaks from the i7 thread to no avail.
I am also getting massive distortion thru my Mbox2 inputs at lower H/W buffer sizes. The Mbox2 works fine on my XP PT8 drive at 64 samples. Please help! Re: PT9 Win7x64 (-9128) errors +
I run a nearly identical system and don't see this error. Did you set RAM timings manually(you need to as the AUTO setting stinks on this mobo). Which BIOS are you running?(F11 here). The only major differences I see are I use a 003 interface on firewire and I run an nVidia graphics card(which is what Avid is now recommending). If none of this helps, I would look to see if you have any plugins that need an update for Windows 7.

Re: PT9 Win7x64 (-9128) errors +
Hey Albee, Thanks for the reply. I recently updated the bios to F11. I have been having issues so, except for Reason 5.1, I had only installed the plugs that came with PT. I did not set the timings manually. I'm not all that computer savy so was afraid I would screw it up. I did see in the i7 thread that if you enable X.M.P.

Mine is set to profile1. I think that is correct. Any ideas on the distortion that I am experiencing with the Mbox2. Almost sounds like it is routed thru a ring modulator.

Re: PT9 Win7x64 (-9128) errors +
I've trashed prefs & databases several times. I've reinstalled PT also, making sure that I installed the correct drivers before installing PT. Nothing seems to help.
I had this rig built for me per you hobos recommendations. I gave the builder the list of do's & dont's from the i7 build threads and was told that they installed only the basic drivers. I don't see any programs or utilities listed in programs & features so I don't think bloatware is an issue.

Re: PT9 Win7x64 (-9128) errors +
Still getting (9128) errors. Also (6085) occasionally. I tried running the windows resource monitor while running PT. Does this look normal????

Re: PT9 Win7x64 (-9128) errors +
If all is well on XP then it should definitely be a software install, driver, or OS settings issue with Win7. Maybe Mbox 2 drivers? You reinstalled PT so that rules that out.
On Win7, I remember getting 9128 errors due to the video card driver. Another was RAM settings. You're CM3X2G1600C8D RAM should be running in X.M.P at 8-8-8-24, 1.65V VDIMM. I always tell people to still check RAM with X.M.P. because once it had my 7-8-7-20 RAM set at 9-9-9-24. Another occasion with Win7 was trying to record @ 64 buffer with virtual instruments. The i7 930 is powerful but seems to like being run (with PT and virtual instruments) at 128 or 256 buffer with less than 8 host processors. If you're using Reason ReWire with PT at 64 buffer then I can see that possibly causing 9128 errors. FWIW, not sure if the Mbox2 has an adapter and your doing this but I've seen 6025 errors when running the Mbox 2 Pro with both FW and the power adapter. |

Re: PT9 Win7x64 (-9128) errors +
Thanks for the help! So you think my RAM settings are wrong. That seems to be the concensus around here as to the cause of my issues. I need to do some learning on how to set them manually. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
The distortion problems that I am experiencing would seem to be a PT9 driver issue since all is well on XP PT8 at 64 samples. I've tried reinstalling the drivers and PT 9.0.1 to no avail. I use Reason all the time and didn't have problems on PT8. One of the great things about this i7 was being able to set the buffer at 64samples and never have to touch it again! Do those CPU spikes on my screenshot look normal to you? Could those be caused by the wrong RAM settings? Thanks for the help..............TODD

Let's back up, if the XP partition works fine on the same computer with the Mbox2 and PT8, then are you sure you installed THIS Mbox 2 driver on the Win7 partition with PT9? |

Re: PT9 Win7x64 (-9128) errors +
Those are the drivers that I installed although I see that the drivers for the Mbox2 USB Family drivers were just updated on March 9th. I will try installing those tonight. Got my fingers crossed!
