I'm in the same boat as you, Steve, and I got a pretty good overview from watching Scott Hirsch's Audio for Film and Video on Pro Tools course on lynda.com. I've also ordered a copy of Holman's "Surround Sound - Up And Running" which was recommended.

Genlocked? If you are referring to AV sync facts do not agree with you. MOJO's sync performance is rock-solid and dead-on within a few audio samples. Please explain what you mean.

I never once saw something in sync played by a Mojo. Experience does not agree with your "facts".

Now now. Let's not get testy.

I don't work for Avid, and I don't always take sides, but when I do, it's because I have experience to back it up.

I work for a facility that once had 11 Mojo SDIs. When playing back Avid MXF media with any of those 11 Mojo SDIs, the sync was always the same, which happened to be dead-on accurate.

QuickTime media may have been sloppy once in a while, as in maybe once out of every 8 times you press play. It's been many years (at least 4+) since I used a Mojo SDI with Pro Tools.

At this moment, Mojo SDI is only relevant if you either own one or plan on building a Pro Tools rig that will not be using v11 or later.

Mojo was good if you didn't mind transcoding everything beforehand.

Mojo and MojoSDI are quite old and no longer supported but MojoDX is fully supported today on PT11 and 12, and will be for years more. My second system uses MojoDX exclusively and gets a lot of use. Any movie Video Engine can play will come through MojoDX with repeatable, consistent, prectically-perfect sync. I am a very happy user.

Mojo dx is EOL now. Avid doesn't sell it or make it. No 4k support.
