I'll pitch in on that! The bill could get up there, I bet he has a bit of an appetite.

Hey maybe we can start sending PayPal donations to whoever schedules R&D priorities at Digidesign, and get this slipped in earlier in the cue. . . I am not kidding, I would pay a little extra to have this looked after now. I already have so much tied up with Digidesign, what is another $100. . . Yea, charge us a fee to provide an option for the original color scheme. I would be good with that if it happens quickly. Anyone else?

I've been watching this thread for awhile but didn't comment because I had not yet upgraded to PT8. I thought everyone would just get used to the new look.

Now that I have upgraded, I'm in full agreement. The new look is hideous. It's like visual pollution. Even though everything is in the same place, I get a headache from looking for things that are right in front of me because of the poor color choices.

I can understand why Digi would like to soften it a bit from previous versions, but they went WAY too far.

As soon as I finish updating the plug-ins, I'll be back on version 7.4. Had I known it would work out this way for me, I wouldn't have upgraded, and saved some cash.

if nobody ever overstepped the mark then the words

"overstepped the mark" would have no meaning.

(and who makes the marks by the way and who does the step measuring?)

i have received admonishment in email from several beta testers and frankly i'm disappointed that they either were not listened to or that they understepped the mark.

but i don't blame them really

we all know where the buck ends up and where it stops

and those people have not shown up with any dialog

can we really assume they are busy on fixing the ELEPHANT?

it will take a big scalpel

are they just too busy to contribute ?

if i produced a tune that had so many clinkers and clams and hurt so many ears, i'd be a little ashamed

but i'd own up to it and figure out how to fix it ....

and not procrastinate the process.

thanks for your opinions mr woods sir
(and i appreciate your choice to be more delicate than i am wired)
but i'll have to use my free speech and partake of it
just callin' em the way i see em.

What I can't understand is why the developers didn't centralize the color code attributes in one place, and provide schemes so they could satisfy various situations, such as color blind users, people that like the clean bright look, the new dim look, and alternates optimized for outdoor use, different computer colour temperatures, etc. . . Many internal people must have been piping up about how big a deal this could turn into. . .

While you may have freedom of speech in your own home and in some places.. those you're attacking don't have that freedom.

i have been supportive actually if you read this thread in its entiretly

good luck that will take you a while

"attacking"?...hardly

no one is being attacked....

that comes across as paranoid

FEAR NOT

you may have that opin or feeling of being attacked

but that is not my truth.

no name calling has been done....

have i been speculative?....absolutely

what more can any of us do with the limited response we've been given

i can't be concerned for a moment about who is not using their freedom

that's their (or your) issue

i'm too busy enjoying mine.

I presume you mean people have to keep quiet because they signed non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) or are Digidesign employees and need to bite their tongue and keep it extremely professional, and not fall out of favor with certain decision makers. . . nudge-nudge, wink-wink, say-no-more.

Mr Cazador,
I feel that I have to put a couple of points of view forward here.
1...Not everybody hates the look. I count myself among them.
2...In the commercial world of Software development there are commercial realities that force a release when not every bug or GUI interface change has been perfected. However, there are many committed folk at Digi (I have met them at Trade shows and in the course of my business) who want Pro Tools to be the best it can be, so finger wagging does not help. Being constructive, as you have been earlier in the post, will get the best response. I know that Digi is listening, but it will always be a compromise.
Beta testers as Rail has said have to sign NDA's and therefore are not permitted to discuss the development of Pro Tools. If you don't think they are doing a good enough job, why don't you apply to become one. I seem to remember on the DUC that Digi was looking for testers at one point.
I feel that Digi is one of the most communicative companies that I have come across and they are committed, it seems to me, to producing the Best Software for audio on the face of the Planet. At the risk of sounding like a Fan Boi, I don't think there is a DAW that can touch Pro Tools for my work. We run 24/7 and Pro Tools has been the centrepiece of the studio for many years and still keeps working.

You are entitled to your "feel"ings my brother.

Am i?

i'm not experiencing any communication from DIGI

other than a carefully mapped

"we're aware" type of form letter response.

if that's good enough for you....kudos.

if you don't think that digi has made huge unfathomable errors in this new --PT8 / PINK ELEPHANT release--
then i envy the fact that you are so comfortable at your work in PT8
cuz i sure want to be in it to win it
but a few tries was enough for me and

it seems to me that

a very very LARGE faction of users are not as well.

i'm one who thinks about it too much and it has gotten HUGE for me.

so stone me.

did i miss something?

did those guys who allocated all the misappropriated funds to IAG and Chrysler and the like....did they sign NDAs

i had a buddy who worked for michael jackson who had to sign one....

but still the stories still get around....

all i have to say about that is.....nice monkey.

please...perty please governor

i think the topic is PT 8 old vs NEW

any of our collective observations and speculation should be welcome

keep me personally out of the topic.
