Exporting Regions as Audio Files
This might seem like sort of a noob question but I just finished editing about 45 min worth of voice overs and would like to export regions(MANY)track at a time with the processing I have as RTAS on the tracks. In other words when I select all regions on one track and export as audio files, will it export the files pre or post Inserts? I would just use audiosuite plugs but this joins all the regions together and I would have to edit for hours again.
Thanks |

Re: Exporting Regions as Audio Files
In your audiosuite plug-ins, you can select "Create Individual Files" in order to process everything the same way, but still keep your edits. Then export. Regions exported will not be processed by your rtas plug-ins because the are real time. (Real Time Audio Suite.)

Re: Exporting Regions as Audio Files
Very nice, yea I figured that out a ew minutes after posting this...thank you... but heres a better question....
After exporting my 16 bit 44.1k aifs, I then go to the finder and make sure everything plays back ok. Then I would need to upload these to my client except for these files dont have extensions. When I upload them to the FTP without extensions the user on the other end has a useless file. You cannot rename the extensions either after its been on the ftp. So now my options are to manually add an extension to 500+ files or I will do anything else anyone can think of lol.... Any ideas? |

Re: Exporting Regions as Audio Files
There are numerous utilities that will rename files, add extensions, remove bits of names, etc.
This one works and it is free. http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/14404 r-name

Re: Exporting Regions as Audio Files
Just downloaded that file myself, will be useful in the future.
My question to Apple/Digidesign is why when exporting will PT automatically attach the .wav suffix, but not .sd2, .aif or .mp3? Am I asking a new b question myself?

Re: Exporting Regions as Audio Files
Yea that is kind of dumb....usually apps have options in some saving/exporting windows which give you the option to show/hide extensions. Digidesign should just throw one of those puppies into the export menu.
