Also I don't understand where this is coming from? It seems to only affect a small group of people. Can you give some insights?

Yes the latest EUCON should still work with PT19. Its easy to try, and if not happy re-run the installer and select remove all apps and Prefs and go back to the older version. I do remember though that some of this fix was in PT though.
