Default iMac keeps talking to me

I'm a new mac user, and my new Intel iMac just started talking to me. How can I make it stop?

I've had it for a month or 2, and it just started with these questions today. Through the onboard speakers, not through my monitors. "protools 7.3.1 has a message" "are you sure you want to shut down"

Apple menu (top left of your screen)
System Preferences
System->Speech
Text to Speech tab
Uncheck the boxes for "Announce when alerts are displayed" and "Announce when an application requires your attention"

Below that is...
To change VoiceOver Settings->Open Universal Access Preferences

...with the information that Command+F5 turns VoiceOver on or off.

In the Finder (click anywhere on the desktop, or Command+Tab to move between applications and select the Finder)
Go to the Help menu in the menu bar (top) and choose Mac Help
Type the word VoiceOver in the search window, and you'll find information on this.
