Default PT LE 8.0 versus Windows Internet Explorer 8.0

I am posting this one here anew, as it seems my previous post remained unnoticed.
Hi people, having seen this hint about uninstalling IE8 before installing PT 8.0, and reintall IE8 afterwards: I am shocked. My IE8 is on harddrive (C): while PT8.0 is on HD (D:). Think using a separate internal HD for PT 8.0 is exactly for avoiding any interference with other programs?
NEW: This is not the solution. Deinstall IE 8.0, reboot PC, install PT LE8.0, reboot, open PT 8.0 and see that it really opens, leave it running, install the latest alternative for IE 8.0, close all applications, reboot anew, connect with internet to get the newest Windows updates for the generic IE (on my PC that is IE 6.0), cancel the suggested installation of IE 7.0 which comes with the automatic Windows update, there is an option "do not inform me about newer versions of IE" check this. Reboot, and then the way for PT 8.0 is free. The reason why I change my mind and this post is, that when I first tried to select an instrument for an instrument track, "Structure" would not appear on the menue. So I believe there is a permanent conflict between IE 8.0 and that plugin. Maybe either Microsoft or dididesign will offer a patch that will make disappear that conflict. Guys - your turn ;-)
Now you check in PT's menue "Help" for latest updates and find there is an up-to-date-version 8.0.1, so you download this one, save it to external HD, and repeat all the installation procedures as described. Very time consuming, but I hope, it is worth it. At least you have current and running software.

Bye and thanx

Why not just install LE 8.0.3 where the problem is fixed??

I don't think you're reading Digi's "read me's" with each upgrade. They clearly give instructions and discuss what has been fixed, IE8 and the re-installation of Structure were both noted.

IE8 is just a waste of time, period.

Uninstall IE8, install FireFox 3.6 and be done with it.

+1 for Firefox Grab the ADBLOCK and NOSCRIPT addons as well. NOSCRIPT is a little trouble, but a big security plus.

Pro Tools 8.0.3 so-called fixes DigiRack and Creative Collection issues with IE8 however PTIEP actually fixes all Avid AIR IE8 issues.

I may be in the minority here but I have never had the need to place my DAW online.

Me neither. Never. I don't need the grief.

I do. But I don't use it for downloading anything other than email attachments of music files (vocals or beats) or Pro Tools updates. I have the internet connected because it's really convenient to bounce a track and email or sendspace it right away. Hell, it's seems the internet is safer than a clients flash drive! Google Chrome is better than IE anyway. Much more light weight!

Whether your rig is online or not your Operating System and related applications and peripherals need updating. Pro Tools has an inbuilt phone home function that supports keeping Pro Tools and related Plug-Ins compatible. And with a good security net in place ones rig should be safe.
