To me the reasons to avoid limiting on a mix is that it can have a very negative impact on vinyl and hot levels can lead one to correct for the analog headroom limitations of their monitor D to A that are meaningless when listening using other D to As.

I came across this because I've been reading up on mixing versus mastering: Great post! And I think Craig F's graphic is perfect. (I hope it isn't offensive to reply to such an old post.)
