Default AAF/OMF Export - no muted clips/regions

Hello all,

I've found myself in the painful situation of having one editor cutting dialogue on Pyramix (Version 6.2.4), and another in Pro Tools (Version 9.0.2). Work will need to pass between the editors as the job progresses, and we're trying make the interchange as seamless as possible.

Getting a sequence/session from Pyramix to Pro Tools is working quite well: track names, fades, and volume automation are all crossing from one platform to the other. Pyramix offers the option when creating an AAF to mute a clip/region using volume automation - effectively giving the same sonic result as if the clip were muted on the timeline. Of course, in doing this, you loose any volume automation that was on the region originally, but for now this is not a concern for us.

However when sending from Pro Tools to Pyramix muted clips/regions are not making it through the conversion properly. The clip/region's volume automation is present, but the clip/region is active (not muted).

I have tried using both AAF and OMF as the interchange format, and both yield exactly the same results. It is my assumption that muted regions are not actually supported in either format (although I may be wrong on this?), hence Pyramix's work around of muting via volume automation.

I am aware that I could first convert the Pro Tools session to version 5, but I am reluctant to rely on this, as it means converting to SDII and over the course of an entire film it will mean we have a massive duplication of media files (not to mention the headaches related to SDII and their resource forks)

Has anybody else come across a similar problem, and if so, could you offer any advice or work arounds? Many thanks in advance,
