I thank you and AVID for considering the upgrade price on PT10HD

I LOUDLY applaud the 14 day trial !!!!!!!!!!

A maintenance plan in general makes more sense if there were more than one paid update per year....... but in this case it amounts to a discount and a mid ground from where this PT10HD update started! I again thank you for offering this solution............ Can't say I would renew it though... food for thought .......

Is the maintenance plan tied to a particular piece of software?? What of people like me who own both HD9 and PT9?? One maintenance program covers both??

Max, is there any path for the people that are still on PT's 8. There was really not much of a reason for us HD guys to upgrade to 9.

clarification:
re-reading my post - don't want to come across with a negative vibe. sorry

In consideration from AVId on this move, and it looks like it makes sense, since it's pretty likely that there will be another major update in a 12 months time span.

peace

Yah, but the next upgrade will require HDx hardware and that comes with the software.

I too think the $599/year plan is reasonable. I am pretty sure I wouldn't ever be calling in for support, but if there were no additional costs for upgrades, then I would definitely find this a fair middle ground for me as an HD user. Now that I am on 10, I probably wouldn't want to purchase the $599/year plan yet, but perhaps I would purchase it in about a year when I felt like there could be another upgrade coming down the pipe.

Oh, and thank you for communicating with us. The lack of answers to these types of questions have been a big part of the frustration. I really wish AVID would have been loud and clear about the $599/year plan right at the start.
