Re: Intel vs. AMD for Pro Tools
I read the first 15 pages or so of the thread you referred to. I don't think I have the guts to try it now. In the past, whenever I tried to modify something in the OS, I have screwed it up. I will make a copy of the instructions and save them to my PT troubleshooting articles folder in case I grow a pair later.
I don't use many virtual instruments. Most of my sessions are live drums, guitars, bass, vocals, etc. I did pull up one session where I had used some Xpand keyboards, and the memory usage was only around 670mb, so I don't think I have a memory limit problem. Mike |

Re: Intel vs. AMD for Pro Tools
Hi, I'm thinking of building a PC but I'm on a budget so was thinking about getting the AMD FX-6350 CPU. Will this CPU work with Pro Tools 11?
Any Help Would be great Thanks |

Sometimes, budget limits make you look at cheap alternatives(and I get that). But consider instead, looking for USED alternatives. For instance, I have seen used X58 motherboards with an i7 950 and 12GB of triple-channel RAM(as a bundle) sell on eBay for under $500. Compatibility on a budget.....

Re: Intel vs. AMD for Pro Tools
And that chipset can run 6-core procs also. Last I looked they were still kind of pricey on eBay. But you can always keep your eye out for a good deal.

Re: Intel vs. AMD for Pro Tools
Hi Guys, I've read endless threads about PC components and to be honest I'm still baffled as to what motherboard to buy to start off my build. Sometimes to much choice and to much information makes things even harder. So if someone could recommend one for me that's a proven no hassle piece of kit I would greatly appreciate it. When looking for one, what are the critical things I need to look out for ? So this is what I'm hoping to build. Running PT 12 native, windows 7, I7 proc, 16gb ram minimum, SSD and a spinner. Budget for motherboard around $400. Look forward to a bit of help. Thanks guys.
