Thanks for the suggestion. Sadly its did not work for this machine. Disabling the video engine did allow the audio session to play though.
I will try a reinstall of Pro Tools, MC and a more up to date BM desktop next.
I would think that it would be useful if Avid detailed the AVE caches that we could delete. (like they did with early Avid App Managers)

I have had an on going open case for a year with Avid regarding this.
But it seems like I'm the only one sending logs and feedback to Avid, if you ALL open a case, maybe something will get done.

No your not! Since Pro-Tools 10 the video engine never worked properly. I can't believe Avid is not putting this on top of their priority. Now we look like a bunch of amateur in front of our clients.

PT 12.7.1. I'm getting "Waiting on video operation to complete" when there is no video in the session. How do I convince PT there is no video operation *to* complete?

Try this:
Run Disk Cache in "NORMAL"
Do not set it to "X" amount of Gigs of Ram that you have.
Normal is the best way to run.
First try that. See how things go

I open the door to my studio and first thing I pray to all Gods I know.
Because last month I had zero AVE errors with my specs below. This is after years of night mare (AKA AVE experience).
One tip: the only thing that changed was that I moved my Aja Kona LHi to a lower slot.
I also find 10.10.5 is much better with PT 12.7.1 than 10.9.5
