Pro Tools 11 - Any expected release date yet?

I wonder if Avid will even 'tease' ProTools 11 at NAMM. My guess is no, but it would be nice. My guess is that it will be late this year. IF they are doing the massive code rewrite that I think we all hope they are.

I'm curious, but with that much code being rewritten, I expect it'll be pretty buggy for a while on release.

There might always be workarounds, but for some of us, "WORK" is the operative word. I can't tell you how many times I saw the same set of threads about "Why doesn't it work on VISTA or why doesn't it work on 7 yet???" The majority of us (or those of us making a living and avoid looking silly in front of paying clients) feel that getting things done and not having to fight an unproven system is a better path than having to be on the unproven "cutting edge" and constantly being halted by things not working. "Latest and greatest" isn't necessarily so. When it's qualified and it works WITHOUT a lot of workarounds, sign me up! I suspect WIN 8/PT 11 will seriously kick butt. Give em time to make it right. ("Dammit Jim, I'm an engineer, not a software beta tester!!!!")

When more companies are out of the "will support AAX" category then I'll get antsy about PT 11.

At this point it looks like Avid has a lot more time to make sure it is stable.

What kills me is the product installers seem to be tested on some 2 year old system in the basement that hasn't been updated in since the OS was installed. It ships and then there's issues with the installed browser or whatever. The software is tested it seems but the installers less so. There may be room for some improvement there.
