Low Latency mode, no sound?
Hi, I searched around for a bit but couldn't seem to find anything pertaining to this exact issue...
Im using a Focusrite Clarett 2pre, trying to cut a vocal overdub. When I go to engage LLM, the audio for monitoring the track that I'm trying to cut goes away. I can still hear playback, and audio still gets recorded to the track. I clicked around in the Focusrite Control software, and the closest thing I could get is audio from the mic, in 1 side of the cans. anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance.. |

Re: Low Latency mode, no sound?
Instead of LLM, try with the lowest buffer your computer will handle. Lowest is 32 for Mac, 64 for PC. I record listening through plug-ins at 64 buffer with no issues.

Re: Low Latency mode, no sound?
Agree with The Weed. That’s one way to approach it.
The other is to use the low latency monitoring path available in Focusrite Control. That should be used in tandem with LLM in Pro Tools.

Re: Low Latency mode, no sound?
In my understanding, low latency mode exists to help with those who want to use hardware monitoring without having to mute the record track every time. Without llm you will either have to mute the record track or mute the input monitoring on your hardware unless you like hearing a double signal that has awesome phase wackiness. Since I prefer using hardware monitoring, I find this setting to be awesome.
So... you're not hearing the input through pro tools when this is activated because it is designed to do just that. It's supposed to mute input monitoring when tracks are record or input enabled so that you can use hardware monitoring more smoothly. I can't help you with the Focusrite monitoring as I don't use their interfaces, but I hope this helps clear up any confusion with llm. I also agree with The Weed that your second best option is to lower the buffer and disengage llm. |

Re: Low Latency mode, no sound?
If you want to record using the input of your interface, just use the "Record Fader Trick" and forget about LLM (it's been "broken" for a while from posts I've seen). In Preferences, UNlatch Record and Play Faders. Put your Track in Record. The Fader turns Red. Pull the Red Fader to the bottom. Take the Track out of Record. The Play Fader goes back to your setting for Play.
