Default Slow meters and still lots of CPU-power left

I'm runnning Jaguar 10.2.8 and PT 6.1.2 and I have some strange problems...I think...
When I run PT I have room for more plug-ins than in OS 9 (running PT 5.1.1) and everything is great. But when I scroll my edit window it's sooo sluggish and jumps all the time (but doesn't happen in any other applications). Same thing when clicking on plug-ins to adjust them. But all this time my CPU-meter is only barely halfway up so I can put on another set of plug-ins and playback without problem. It seems that the problems are just on the screen. Another thing is that when I move my mouse vertically along the screen during playback, all the meters run smoothly up and down, but when I move the cursor horisontally they are very sluggish and jump around. If I move a fader (holding the mouse-button down) they work well too...And the PSP Vintage Meter that worked fine in OS9 is really slow now too.

I have checked the thread "OS X/Pro Tools 6.x setup and general troubleshooting". No luck.

Any ideas?

OK. Thanks Markus. I'll try that.

Do you know if there are any Geforce 3 or 4-cards that would do? They seem to be easier to find than the Radeon 8500...

... or maybe I'd be better off buying a processor upgrade to 800 Mhz? Do you think that would be enough?
