Default Pro Tools 8.0.1 and Fades and Cross Fades Pop

Recently we have been going back to sessions that played fine on Pro Tools 7.4. When Pro Tools 8.0.1 encounters certain fades that fade out slowly, especially in conjunction with fades that fade in quickly, a pop or tick can be heard. These same fades played perfectly in 7.4. The only solution is to redraw the fade with a quick volume drop.

Has anyone else experienced this? Does Pro Tools 8 use a different fade rendering engine? Should dither be disabled?

Thanks in advance.
