Default Quicksilver\'s Approved but no Aurora Fuse support?!

I just noticed that the new 2001 G4's have been officially approved, but noticed that only the long discontinued Miro DC30+ card is supported.

Are there any plans to qualify the Aurora Fuse? Digi and Aurora worked very well together to develop the 2.0.2 drivers, why stop now.

There are still issues with region selection delays, and overall Pro Tools system performance slow downs when the fuse captured video is online. Playback however, is beautiful. Please keep working on this one.

The Fuse was never officially approved for the previous batch of machines, either. There had been an announcement from Digidesign that some people were having success, but no actual approval.

I noticed Digi acknowledges a problem with DigiTest on the ATTO card and plans for a fix update sometime soon. I didn't notice a problem with this(I'm using an 867Mhz running OS 9.2.1 and PT 5.1.1 Mix Cubed system) but noticed the Apple System Profiler rearranges the PCI slot order, including the ATTO. This wouldn't be fixable, would it?

The company I work for is running four FUSE cards:

2 on PT rigs: occassional freezes - no more stutters since upgrade. Freezes occur on TV shows or features (programs with much greater length othan a :30 Ad)

1 on Logic / Giga Sampler - similar problems as above

1 on MOTU rig - no problems

The performance improved a lot with the driver update (search Digi announcements or go to http://www.auroravideosys.com to get it)

All of these systems are running OS 9.1
on 1st Generation 733 G4. RAM seems to make no difference. If you want an affordable video capture system I wouldn't hesitate. There is the occassional stutter, failure, crash and/or "toss it out the window" moment, but what gear doesn't give you that!?

I'm using the Fuse card with a Quicksilver
and it's working great, and we also
have it on three older G4's. Getting
the latest driver (2.0.2) made a huge
difference. We capture with BTV, and
found that the following settings work
best:
Frame rate 29.97 (not "Best")
Limit data rate to 1000K/sec

The Aurora MediaGrab software which
comes with the card is very similar
to BTV and also has these settings.

Also keep AppleTalk off during captures
and while working against movies
in Pro Tools. Also make sure that
you are using seperate drives on
seperate busses for audio and
video.
