Pro Tools 12.7.1 crashes
Hey folks.
I understand this might have been posted already - have done a search - but I am still struggling to find answers for this one. It's a PT12.7.1 (Mac OS 10.12.2) crash. Constant and unending crash at the precise same point of a session every time. I can't see any reason why it should happen at the point it does; it isn't at the entry of fresh clips and it isn't at a particularly CPU intensive moment of the song. Any ideas? Have; - trashed prefs - uninstalled and then reinstalled Waves plugs. - created submixes/stems to ease strain on the system (although it can handle a lot more than this). - moved it off of my external drive and on to the iMac SSD drive - have printed tracks with plugs to further ease strain. Sadly on a deadline so hard to fathom a complete reinstall - but it is only happening in the one session so I hope that I can isolate the problem. Any pointers would be appreciated. Thank you - |

Re: Pro Tools 12.7.1 crashes
One thing worth a try: Create a new blank session at a different sample rate than the original(IOW, if the original is at 48K, make the new session 44.1K or vice versa). Then with the blank session open, Import Session Data and apply SRC(sample rate conversion). This will re-write all the audio files(theory being that this action will "smooth out" any minor file corruption). It may not help, but has worked for me twice over the last 3 years.
Next thing to try, open the session while holding the SHIFT key to make all plugins inactive. If the session plays fine this way, then maybe you have a plugin that needs to be re-installed, updated, or swapped out for something else

Re: Pro Tools 12.7.1 crashes
I'd suggest making all tracks inactive, then slowly activating tracks in the session and see where it starts to crash.
Dave's suggestions are also good ones.

Re: Pro Tools 12.7.1 crashes
Thanks for your help.
Will give these both a try. I did try the 'SHIFT'/open session method - but that was in an earlier stage of the session. Might be worth trying again. Thanks again - appreciated. |
