Default 8.01 Playback with Video issue.....

Not sure if this is in any way related to the 8.0.3 bug in the other threads, but was wondering if anyone else had experienced the following.

When playing back video, either in the video window, or out of a decoding card (Blackmagic Intensity Pro in this case) there is a long pause before it starts to play. I can scrub through the video fine with no problems, but as soon as i hit play i get this long pause. There is no stutter or crash as per problems with 8.0.3. I've started a new session running just the video track to test that it's nothing to do with heavy sessions. Once I turn the video track offline, it runs perfectly. Any ideas?

System Spec as follows

Intel Mac v. 10.5.8
2 x 2.66 Dual Core Intel Xeon
4gb ram
PTLE 8.0.1
Hardware 003
Video Card - Blackmagic Intensity Pro
DVToolkit 2

Thanks

I have seen the same thing when alt-tabbing out of PT to browse files or folders.

After spotting a file into the timeline, I come back and hit play sometimes the long pause happens.

I figure its a lack of ram? I only have 6 gigs on my 8 core MacPro at this time.

Just played the file in Quicktime itself, and the exact same time delay. So probably something to do with this. One thing I'm thinking though is that if that's the case I shouldn't have to have a bucketload of RAM just to play back video without delay. Will check with lower res files to see if it makes a difference!

ok so having played a number of different formats including

DV-Pal mov extension
DV-PAL dv extension
h.264
Photo JPEG

I get exactly the same delay time whatever the file size, so surely if it was RAM then it would be a slightly different time per codec???

Urgh, ok solved - The solution = Corea audio problem.

I had my hardware on before computer boot, automatically starting Corea audio. Once I then start pro tools the core audo seemed to become confused.

The solution - turn the hardware on after the computer boots!
