Error -6039 "Lost communication with hardware"

Anyone know a solution for this one, I have PT 7.1 and it run ok for an hour or so but then I get the messages "Lost communication with digidesign hardware -6039". And I need to restart the computer, then everything is fine but later its the same error?

I'd try re-seating your cards

Strangly enough, I've seen this traced back to a bad (meaning non-7.x version) plug-in. Double check your plug-ins.

Also run DigiTest...if it passes you shouldn't have to reseat your cards.

While in DigiTest check the firmware of your interfaces, and make sure they are all current and the same. Strange that Digi doesn't mention doing Interface firmware updates as part of the installation process (also possible I may have missed it). When I updated to 7.2 I found I had to update the firmware in my 192 IO's.

Ok I will update to 7.2 soon also, and if i need to, how do I reset the cards? And is it a big procedure?

Hi,

You simply carefully remove the PCI cards and carefully put them back in to place and check all the connecting cables are nicely seated into the sockect etc. !!Make sure you don't charge yourself with static....... make sure you touch something that is earthed before opening the box and pulling the cards out.
also check the cables connecting to the interfaces from the PCI cards! carefully disconnect them and push them back in to make sure they are fully home.
