Default Upgrading Toolbox

Can I use a Rosetta AD as the front end of an Audiomedia III/ Protools LE system?
Would I connect the spdf out of the Rosetta to the spdf in of the AMIII card and then select spdf input on the track to be recorded on? If so, would that increase the A to D conversion from 18bit (AMIII) to 24bit (Rosetta) only in a 24 bit session? Since I use a lot of CD audio (which is 16 bit) I have been using 16 bit sessions because you cannot import CD audio into a 24 bit session? Would the Apogee improve the A to D conversion in a 16 bit session?

Default Re: Upgrading Toolbox

The AMIII should be able to handle the 24-bit 44.1kHz or 48kHz output of a Rosetta a/d, connected as you've described. However, you might consider the Lucid AD2496, substantially cheaper, and a respected performer.
