Digi -

One OWC drive connected, but it was powered off. This was a fresh Leopard / PT install on a brand new drive.

I was unable to post my entire crash log - not sure how to post that for you guys.

Just paste it between [CODE] tags, but make the ending tag with a slash '/' in front of the C in CODE.

Just had this again with PTs 8cs1 so the update didn't fix it.

Any news on this? I see someone just started a new thread with a similar looking crash log.

Sorry guys I didn't see this thread, and I started 2 other threads, this same crash is happening both in LE and on HD

MY POST - SYS SPECS AND A LINK TO THE LE CRASH 0F THE SAME FWAUDIOCALLBACK IS HERE.

this happens for me with NO 3rd Party Plugins, and NO firewire devices hooked up to the computer.

as you'll see following my earlier thread, I got curious, wiped my machine blank, installed ONLY OS X 10.5.5 (Updated from 10.5 using the Combo Update), PT 8cs1 and had NOTHING plugged into the mac except for a Mouse, monitor, and Keyboard.

No 3rd party plugins, no FW devices or external Hardware - and the crash happened to me.

it seems that I'm doing something different each time it happens, which makes it pretty hard to chase down - it's got to be a background process, maybe related to autosave, or Workspace scanning the system for other volumes ???

there's sure no point in Me guessing - good luck Digi - this is a tricky one - seems to be happening to alot of us.

I got a new MacPro this last week and was wrestling with various crash issues. I don't have any threads to show, but I got a lot of improvement playing with Spotlight preferences in this program:

http://www.fixamac.net/software/spot2/index.php

What started me down the path was that I noticed I couldn't unmount a drive to repair it with disk utility, and I realized Spotlight was indexing the drive when it should have let it "go" when the utility asked it to. I thought there was a good chance that Spotlight was interfering with Digi playback as well as the creation of volume information.

Anyway, my system seems to work best when I let Spotlight work normally with the startup drive ONLY. On all my other drives I disabled indexing (different than adding to the "private" list). Read the info on the Spotless website to understand more. It was well worth puzzling through--it seemed to make the difference for me...

It may just be a coincidence but since upgrading to 10.5.6 I have only had this crash once, when before I'd had it as many as 7 times in one day.

Just a suggestion if you've tried everything else.

In my earlier experiments, in THIS THREAD I found that the crashes in 10.5.5 were 6-7 on average a day.

I also noticed a decrease in the frequency of crashes after running the 10.5.6 Combo update. I now get about 2 or 3 a day.
