May not be an issue, but just to be on the safe side since "storage" is a somewhat ambiguous term...
When recording, the audio files should be "recorded" to a drive other than the "system" drive. As far as Pro Tools is concerned, there is no benefit to "recording" to the "system" drive then moving the audio files to a separate drive...

sleep mode causes system crashes
all sleep parameters are accessible if the Energy Saver page of the OS System Prefs
