ISRC/UPC/MCN codes? CD Text?
When you send out a mastered Redbook CD-R to a duplicator, do you usually include:
1. CD Text 2. ISRC codes 3. UPC code 4. MCN code I'm mastering with PT and burning Redbooks with Sony CD Architect. Thanx.

Re: ISRC/UPC/MCN codes? CD Text?
It might be safest to ask the duplicator what they want...and if the duplicator doesn't know what those things are, it might be a bad sign.

Re: ISRC/UPC/MCN codes? CD Text?
Hi EGS ...
I'm not entirely sure what you mean here. If you mean that you are mastering something for a client then the answer is obviously to include everything (and only the things) the client/label has requested you to. This would typically include the ISRC codes and EAN/UPC. Here (where we do this stuff for a living) we never put in CD Text without a specific request and authorization. Asking for trouble. And, best practice is to get someone to sign off on it before they get the PMCD if text is included ... that is the CD Info printout with all the text and numbers from your PlexTools Professional or Clover error check at a minimum. If the project is yours ... well, it's entirely a matter for you: what you want and what you expect will be required as an element of your plan for the project. If you have codes you may want to include them for a few reasons, including possible upload requirements for iTunes (you'll need to satisfy yourself about what is needed to do what you plan in this regard). I'm not familiar with CD Architect so I don't know what reports it prints. But, FWIW, one of the things people pay us for is to check this stuff really carefully and I'd recommend you do the same in your quality control process before sending the error checked PMCD for replication. Hope this helps. Kind regards, Paul Blakey 12th & Vine Post |
