Default My session is destroyed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok now i'm in a bad mood

Let me explain,
I was working on that song for 2 days, and when I was ready to transfer my mix to DAT, I change the optical format to SPDIF, and it crash !!!! BIG TIME !!! When I finally open back my computer my session was gone, even the audio files used in my session was gone. I've been working on that song for 2 days... for nothing.
Now Digi its time to fix all the &^U$#@#$%^ bugs in 5.3.1.
I was that close to throw my Digi001 of the window.

Dang! I feel your pain brother....
Do have 2 HDD? 1 for system and 1 for audio data? If not, I highly recommend it. Saved my butt a few times.

not to make it you feel better, but 2 whole days you worked on that song???

that's not a whole lot of time lost.

I have one particular song that I put in over 100 hours on...

And if gavinchan is right, if you are only using one drive, change that..

I have been saved countless times with a separate drive for my audio.

I dont think I<m gonna sleep tonight.
Thank you guys for your support.

Now Digi I need an answer...
Are you gonna fix that problem, or we'll have to wait for PT 6.0 ?

Two days? Where's your backup?

tsk...tsk... There is one ABSOLUTE in any business involving computers... YOU WILL HAVE DATA LOSS!. The ONLY solution is REGULAR backups (at least once a day). This is SO important.

Before you record anything else get your backup situation in hand.

BTW, not chastising you... just that I've been working with computers for many moons and this is the ONE SURE THING that I have learned. I lost a whole album on my VS's due to backup procedure that was just too cumbersome. Still my fault though...

Good luck. I know this sounds harsh but be glad it's only two days. It could've been alot worse.

How are you backing up?

Backup, backup, backup... Even if you don't do daily backups, I would suggest this method.

During your tracking sessions, save often during your session. At the end of your tracking session, backup your session and audio files. Worst case senario, copy the files to your second audio harddrive for quick backup/recovery. Granted, this isn't the best solution, but it's better than no back, and it's something that you can do right away.

Hi

To add to that, I hit CONTROL S EVERY time I do something I like whether it is fades or a take etc. It's habit for me now. It only takes 4 secs.

Definately get two drives. I backup after every session but remember to save session copy IN then save in another drive. Do not drag and drop in Window explorer. If you drag and drop, anybody correct me if im wrong, the audio files etc, that you think are copied on the backup drive are actually coming from the original drive you copied from.In other words,
when you open the session up on the backup drive, the files are actually coming from the original drive instead of the backup drive.

Hope that makes sense. Just tryin' to help.

Hope you got the money for the second harddrive mate

Best of luck

Duane.
