Default 001 ---> mbox...how can i listen to tracks over 24?

Hi,
I sold my 001 to use a Logic/MotuHD192 setup but i've needed to access some of my old sessions so i just got an MBox (nice little box, by the way).

Some of the sessions i want to bounce down are over 24 tracks. I'd like to at least be able to see what those extra 3 tracks are and try to bounce them down. How does one do this?

I did a search but couldn't find an answer (even though i found posts saying it was possible).

Thanks!

You can at least listen to the audio files using SoundApp, QuickTime or importing them into a new Pro Tools session. Hearing how they sound with plug-ins and the rest of the mix would involve a bit more work.

With an Mbox, you would need to either have Pro Tools LE 5.3.3 or higher for Windows XP or Pro Tools 6.0 or higher for Mac OS X. 24 tracks is the limit on OS 9 with an Mbox.

I don't know if it is possible to use the Import Tracks function in PT LE 5.2 to import individual tracks from a larger session. I'm no tech, but I would open a new session, and try and import tracks individually and bounce them down, and import more until you have all the tracks. I'm not near a system and can't try it myself, but I'm sure someone will correct me if this isn't possible.

If you have access to a Windows XP machine, PT LE 5.3.3 for Win XP is a free download for Mbox owners. Or you might be able to get someone to open the session for you in one of the 32 track versions and save it for you as Pro Tools 5.1 session format, with the tracks bounced down to 24. Or just a separate session with the extra tracks.

For an 001 there is a Beta 32 track version of PTle, version 5.2.1, that's been out for a couple years now, and while didi will never release it as anything but a free beta version, it works great, and allows 32 tracks.

go to the DL section of the website to get it, and yes it's free.

Hope this is helpful.

Thanks for your answers. Not quite sure this helps but hopefully we'll figure it out.

where, I actually used that Beta version to record these tracks.

Now that i'm using the Mbox, i can't listen to the 1 or 2 extra tracks that i recorded.

Just wondering, how did Mix users do this when they ported big sessions to a 001? Could they active/deactive extra tracks?

Thanks again for any help.

I'm pretty sure the import tracks thing should work. Thanks again.

You have to love Logic. At least now, you will never have to worry about that for future recordings.
