Mackie Controller
Why does protools support the baby HUI and not the mackie control? does the control compete with the 002?
I have a 001 and would love to have a control surface but dont want to pay so much to upgrade to the 002. Is the 002 cheaper if you have a 001? what do you suggest for a control surface (not intrested in the motormix) |

Re: Mackie Controller
Hello Locash,
The Baby HUI uses the Mackie HUI protocol under Pro Tools, if I'm not mistaken. I paid $600.00 USD for my Baby HUI and works great as a motorized controller with the 001 which gives an appx. of $1400.00 as a combination controller with 001 setup (give or take a few). Drawbacks: The Baby HUI doesn't have as long of a throw (mm) on its faders as some controllers and or mixers/desks, and you don't get the better preamps as the 002 has or the "all in one" or stand alone mixer feature, plus other advantages (firewire, etc.) (or contrary) depending on your needs. Hope this helps a little. LB. PS. I'm not sure but I think I've heard ramblings of upcoming support for the Mackie control if that's what your looking for in control surface options. |
