Yes they do - and actually it's outside of protools

If they have a dsp mixer in them like the liquid saffire 56, the saffire pro 40 ect, then yes.

Ok, cool. And what about the Focusrite Scarlett 18i20?
In terms of latency, would it work just as well as the Saffire Pro 40?

If you're using the direct monitoring/mix control software, it will be exactly the same, because that makes it function as a mixer, bypassing the digital conversion. But even if you monitor through Protools with a low buffer, it should be at least as good. I know it goes down to a 32 buffer. And modern USB interfaces are as good or better than firewire. I used an NI Komplete Audio 6 for a while, and at any given buffer setting it was actually lower latency than what I had with my previous firewire based 003.

I would suggest that you get the 18i20 over the Pro 40, mainly because it's USB, which makes it more easily compatible with more computers. And if your computer does have firewire, you can always use that for your external hard drives. That way they're on a separate buss from your interface, and you don't have to deal with daisy-chaining.

Most of our Interfaces will have the Low Latency Monitoring features.

Most of our Interfaces also have a Standalone Mode.

You can check out our new Comparison Chart to get more details on which interfaces have what you are looking for.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to assist you.

Best regards.
