Default All MIDI is inactive when opening a session, until i open OMS Studio Setup and......

All MIDI is inactive when opening a session, until i open OMS Studio Setup and do a "test studio".. Then I go back to protools 5.1 and all is well. When I first open up a session, and i rec enable a midi track, PT recieves NO midi input from my controller and also doesnt send any pre recorded midi out. I dont see any midi meters in PT when i hit keys or move the mod wheel or whatever.. Total MIDI silence..
If I keep PT open, then go to OMS and test studio to "wake up " the midi, on switching back to PT, everything is back to normal... Its really a drag having to do this everytime.. Anyone have any ideas about this?

PT 5.1 Mix, G4 466, OS 9.1, OMS 2.3.8 with serial DMA option turned OFF, Studio 4 interface... umm i guess that is all that might be relevant... please help digi..
thanks
MT

Hey Mt.

I've seen this as well, not all the time though. When I get my rig set up again I'll try to get a more scientific explanation.

go into OMS Setup. In the Edit menu open the 'OMS MIDI Setup' option. make sure 'Run MIDI in background' is checked!!!!
Problem solved.
