Default Re: Dell XPS Firewire

With no firewire port, all firewire interfaces are out of the question. The New Mbox 3 stuff is getting really good reviews, and if you go PT9, then there are a bunch more USB interfaces(like Focusrite Saffire).

you could try traiding up to one of dell's precision m-series laptops, and then you'd be in good shape. but those things are an arm and two legs. some makbuck pros are cheaper. and less expensive too.

Just get PT9 and an different brand interface like Albee stated. Much easier. Or be confined to an Mbox.

I have come up against the same problem. Looking to get a new XPS and no Firewire for 003 connection. I will have the same problem to get quality link to my HD camcorder.

What amazes me is that many new computers (including Macs) are leaving Firewire behind. Surely they know this is causing problems with Firewire equipment, but I can find no solution, especially for the 003 to XPS laptops.
