MBox 2 with Apogee Rosetta 800
I am very new to Pro Tools - just got an MBox 2. I have been using my Apogee Rosetta 800 (firewire connection, Windows XP SP2) with Cubase, and now I would like to use it with Pro Tools LE, but I can't work out how to do it.
Could someone point me to some tutorials or advise on ways to match these up? Currently, the Pro Tools won't see the Apogee at all. I would prefer to input the Apogee directly into the computer, to use the ApogeeFireMix. Cubase allows me to choose whatever sound card is connected, but I can't see that being possible with Pro Tools. Thanks, Michael |

Re: MBox 2 with Apogee Rosetta 800
You can't.
Pro Tools only uses Digidesign hardware as I/O.

Re: MBox 2 with Apogee Rosetta 800
Well that's disapointing - guess I'll continue to use Cubase for recording, then switch to Pro Tools for mixing etc. one reason I wanted to try out Pro Tools, was because I hoped it might provode better digital effect processing - s/pdif to my Lexicon MPX 550 perhaps. To date I haven't found a single digital processing that doesn't destroy sound quality to a greater or lesser degree, not that I want to do a lot, but had hoped Pro Tools would give better results.

Re: MBox 2 with Apogee Rosetta 800
Yep if the Mbox2 had a light pipe you would be laughing… You could just go in through that…
The 002 & 002R will do it & a few other M-audio interfaces and the ‘ProFire Lightbridge’ could be just the ticket for you when it get M-Powered support… Cheers N |

Re: MBox 2 with Apogee Rosetta 800
Thanks to both for this info,
I am a little surprised these two products don't talk easily, but maybe that will change with time. I know Apogee has now an extension to fit with the HD, so maybe the two will continue to extend support for each other. For me the Apogee is more important, as quality of sound is my main interest. I shall look into this M stuff more as I get the time, as I say I'm very new to the whole Pro Tools area. Michael |
