Default How to move to new user profile macOS

I created a new user profile on my mac to solve issues with Quick Time.

Copied all data to respective folders on this new profile.

Now, before I launch PT, anything i should do/import, so I get the same “recent projects”, I’m not bugged with iLok, all projects are able to find their related audio files, instruments settings, and so on ?

All I did so far was authorizing permissions so I could copy from “documents”, “desktop” and so on. My intent is to eventually delete old admin profile and all data so to avoid using real estate in double (disl space).

Tks

If you copied everything over to the new user, then you should be good to go.
Just check if those folders are there:
~/Documents/Pro Tools/
~/Library/Application Support/Avid
~/Library/Preferences/Avid/

Also, make check in the Operations Preferences if the User Media and Settings Location in the lower-left corner points to the right directories.

Hum... Just unclear to me how to copy these from one profile to the other. How do I get there and copy from one profile to the other? Because indeed, I realize I do not have the ''recent projects'' list, and some preferences are obviously not there - whether these are project-specific or general.

In your first post you said you "copied all data to respective folders on this new profile" but that's tricky because if you are logged in as one user you can't access files from another user. The only way is to log in as previous, export needed files to a thumbdrive, log out and back in as new user, etc. I don't know all the pertinent files you'd want but probably prefs, templates...?

Anyway, if you're only trying to repopulate your "recent projects" list just reopen those sessions one at a time so the new user version of PT knows where to find them. If I launch PT without plugging in my external audio drive it doesn't show any recent projects because it can't see them. Same is likely for you as your new user version of PT thinks it belongs to another person and doesn't know the path to your projects. It needs to be retrained.

Indeed, all I did was to open Macintosh HDD, go users, give my new user access (read-write) to all folders (and apply to everything included in these), then copy-paste in the new user's relevant folders... No need for an external drive for this...

However, you are right about this has not imported prefs, templates. Not sure these are embedded in the projects (??) - I've tried just one, but for instance, on playback, preference to see cursor moving was not there.

Sure I could re-open project by project, but if there's a way so I don't need to do this (and especially don't need to reset such prefs), that would ease the way :)

I used to have two partitions on the ssd. Both having osx installed on them. At times even different osx versions. So two macs in one and the same machine. Easy to access read copy write files and folders on "the other" mac - just simply navigating using finder. No messing with rights management. Changing to "the other mac" through restart holding alt. quite nice arrangement.

So this is what you'd expect, with a new user profile; Everything reset. system settings, application preferences, contacts, bookmarks, logins, everything.
