It appears that the Artist Mix includes this 48 layout snapshots as well. However, it doesn't sound like this is what I'm looking for. At least according to the Avid product page, the layout snapshots are for storing fader configurations and locking specific channels to specific faders.

Maybe it works differently in actual use? And this does do what I want it to do?

Artist control snapshots are exactly the same as on the Icons (i have both artist control and icon dcontrol). I think you mean the layouts of different fader configs.

Drew's talking about 48 different "captures" of all automatable parameters. So each one of these snapshots can hold any combination of volume fader, send fader, mutes, send mutes, all pans and all plugin parameters. It might be just one or two parameters or thousands. The power is literally mind boggling!

But to mix in sections and write massive changes of automation section by section is not something you need an ICON for. You can do this easily by using the Preview functionality in PT HD.
