192 i/o 16 analog and in and out?

anyone know if you can remove the D/D card and have 16 analog in and out by adding a A/D and D/A

No, that will not work----and in fact if you try to remove it you could potentially damage it. If that happens, it will NOT be fixed under warranty.

Its one or the other! 16 in 8 out or 8 in 16 out

you can use the adat or AES digital to get another 8 i/o at the same time. good for 8 pre's going in but not so good if you need another 8 hi-quality inputs/outputs, but there are quite a few dig converters to do this.

Unfortunetly you can't. In the IO setup window there is only 16 "spots" from left to right for each 192. So even though you can use all 24 ins, you can't use them all simultaneously, you have to select 16 of them corresponding to the 16 columns underneath the 192 IO in the IO setup window.

Unfortunately you can't. The Power supply in the 192 supposedly can't handle the power consumption of two A/D and two D/A cards.

But wouldn't that be a great new product for Avid to come out with! It could be the first new "Avid" branded interface for PTHD. If they put a new power supply in the 192, they could make a 16 AD/16 DA interface to compete with the Aurora and Apogee. This would also give us the ability to have 16 hardware inserts in one box.

Maybe if enough of us here speak up and let them know that's something we want, they might do it!!!

Anyway, count this as my vote for a 16AD/16DA AVID 192IO!

just get a external AD/ and DA for the digital IO card
that will give you 16 analog
