Default BOYCOTT PRO TOOLS 10 and beyond- Support Legacy Interface Owners

Pro Tools will no longer support legacy interfaces in the next 64 bit version.

In other words, some of the 2 year old interfaces will be worthless to anything other than version 10. Avid considers it's customers the enemy!!

AVID stock is currently at $7/share.
If they make little money on version 10 pro tools
due to a BOYCOTT, then AVID has no choice but to change their policies or lower their software price.

Pro Tools 10 will be the final supported feature release for legacy Digidesign interfaces and controllers, including:

192 I/O
192 Digital I/O
96 I/O
96i I/O
SYNC (original "blue")
SYNC HD (original "blue")
MIDI I/O
003 family
Mbox 2 family
Control|24
Command|8
Pro Control
Moving on for the sake of 64bit processing. We still have a number of years before PT 11 comes out with a new line of interfaces/controllers/etc.

Also, no support doesn't necessarily mean it won't work. We've been using the 888 24bit with PT 9 since 9 came out without any problem. Of course, if things are going 64bit, it might change things more drastically.

Is there still people boycotting Avid because they dropped NuBus? :)

You're nuts dude. They just announced 3 more years of support for legacy gear. And PT10HDX is EXACTLY what I was hoping for. I'm all over it. If it's not working for you, fine. But don't be a jerk.

I love how people act like a new software version that doesn't work with old equipment is going to disable their old systems. I used PT mix systems up until last year, they hadn't been supported since 2004. If the upgrade isn't worth it to you, then don't buy it!

Don't be a troll.

I don't need to insult you, if you have anger issues direct them at someone else on another forum.

If there's truly a technical reason for dropping 192 and Digi 003 product, AVID should explain themselves.

If that's not the case, people can make AVID listen by not supporting their product and telling them why.

And they already did, but you didn't read it apparently.

the old legacy hardwares are not compatible with 64 bit.. plain and simple.. They will simply not work even if you keep them.

1) You dont HAVE to upgrade. You HD System is just as good as it was 48 hours before that announcement..

2) To move into the future, one is forced to drop bits n pieces from the past.
