Thanks but that is a Live console/control and it lacks a lot of studio functions so useless for us who want an alternative to the Pro Control and now the ICON series that was eol'd a few weeks back

From what I have been told, you will be able to ge the m40 in the configuration you described above with the addition of the process module.
You can also get the m10 and sell off the automation module and the faders

Yeah but that sounds very expensive again. An S3 with transport and wheel functions plus dedicated buttons for sends, eq and dynamics would be good. My S4 fantasy would suit me better since I tend to focus on one track at a time and need edit access to the plugins in front of me. It would be lovely when editing a reverb to have all the parameters visible with labels and knobs. It's crazy that Avid have never created a smaller controller with eq and dynamics knobs at least. It's not like it needs to be expensive. I used a Behringer Brc2000 mapped to eq and compressor in Logic so it became active as I selected each channel. It was like a dream being instantly able to reach for eq and tweak. It's a shame the same custom mapping isn't available in my daw of choice and that avid keep the eucon protocol locked down. I would love to make my own controller but sadly this will probably never happen.

So does anyone know if it will be possible to buy the process modules alone?

I'm assuming the rest of the parts will be available piecemeal for people to upgrade empty slots in their frames...but curious if we can *start* modular. I would also rather build it into my own frame that incorporates analog gear I prefer to have in front of me, and have no need for Xmon (Avid if you are listening I'm using an OMNI!).

After checking out the slate MTi at GC yesterday the S6 parts are looking like the last hope for that great mid level (music!) controller, but I only need 8 faders the knobs section transport/jog and touch screen and would prefer to build it into my desk with my mouse and keyboard.

The one thing about S6 is I think euphonix were on the right track with the MCPro...And Avid with Icon for that matter. I don't want my mouse and keyboard to be an afterthought.

As of now, the minimum config you can start with is an S6 M10 8-5 list price $21,995. Probably street in the high teens maybe.

This is a Master Touch panel, Master Auto panel, 8 faders, and a 5 knob panel in Avid's frame. Since it has the M10 brain, you can't go beyond 10 modules and you can NEVER add the TFTs.

Hmm yeah I was afraid of that-

It's a bit of a strange business model IMO, are they afraid that selling it modular like the artist series would mean less sales for m10?

For me it merely means I won't be buying any of it...I suppose it's for the best anyway, money spent on more analog isn't going to depreciate as fast anyway.

I am most likely in the same boat.

Hoping for a C24 replacement sometime before my ICON is bricked. I've got 5 years.
