Default Davec test

In regards to the Davec test, is the reason this test is mostly done with a H/W buffer size of 1024 because that would be a normal setting for heavy plug in usage? This brings up a question. What is your screen refresh like? When, or at what point in the test, does it start to lag in redraw? And with what video card? Does anyone notice a lag in redraw under normal usage with PT 6.4? Say, 24-30 tracks with 5 aux's and a moderate amount of plug ins? I only ask this because my Mac's redraw right now with PT 6.4 on OSX is really bad. Can anyone post results to the Davec test with different H/W buffer sizes? Like 128 and 256. I did see a few threads where people were changing the buffer sizes but was wondering if someone could get specific here.

Thanks again for everyones help.

Default Re: Davec test

It's been a couple of months since I've done a davec but I did it at 128, not at 1024 like the test requests. (edit, I just looked up my old post from 6.4 Davec test. I got 32 tracks + 6 Aux w/ all the plugins. I had a good 3-5 second stutter before it started recording after I hit record... and the screen redraws were very, very slow... but it recorded for 3 minutes before I stopped it. (system specs below). I hope that helps w/ your question.

If you don't do the test as outlined, you cannto compare your results accurately to those who did.

This does answer my question. Thanks so much for posting the info. I really appreciate it. Do you remember at what point in the Davec test that the redraw began to slow?

Thanks again
