El Capitan and Mbox 3rd Gen
I have been trying to search for this answer and have been reading and reading info on Avid's site but I'm still not sure I understand exactly and I'm nervous about updating to El Capitan before asking. I'm still using Yosemite 10.10.5 and PT 11.1.3 and I'll explain why.
When El Capitan first came out I was excited to update and did so only to find out my Mbox 3rd Gen was no longer working, even as a stand alone I couldn't just plug in and play an instrument outside of PT and my monitors also were no longer working. Thank God I backed up my system before I did that update but I had to reinstall Yosemite and have been there ever since. Obviously I need to update my OS X but I can't afford new equipment right now so I'm looking for the short answer here if I can humbly ask for it. Can I update the drivers of the Mbox and update the OS X to El Capitan without losing the use of any of my exisitng hardware functions? Has there been a fix for this or should I leave well enough alone? I appreciate any advice and guidance. I'm not that savvy when it comes to this stuff so much and I really don't want to gooch what I already have that is working. Thank you. |

Re: El Capitan and Mbox 3rd Gen
I too have stayed on Yosemite. I’ve heard too many bad things about “el crapitan” and frankly I can’t stand the thought of “renting” software. So I cloned everything twice on BOTH MBPros with the hope that within the next 10 years something better comes along. I figure with the backups, triplicAted computers, and good care I can get good life out of this.
I’d go back to analog before renting software; it’s an insult to me for lack of the updates and continued frustrations I read about. If you have a rock solid system, I say leave it that way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
