Default Mac Pro Updated (Slightly)

Seems like Apple will not have Mac Pro's as their top machines anymore. Only a spec bump, these things don't even have new Sandy Bridge CPUs, no Thunderbolt, no new 2012 parts whatsoever. Is this the end of the Mac Pro as we know it?

They're barely changed, check the specs. Tiny speed bump, rest is basically still the 2010 model.

They don't love you.

I think Apple sees pro users as the old guy that sits in the corner at family get-togethers reminiscing about the time when you could get a beer and a ham sandwich for a nickel at the local bar. Interesting, but sadly irrelevant in today's iWorld.

Yup. Irrelevant to the bottom line.

It seems like they are making Laptops as their main systems now. I'm not going to lie this is a little disappointing.

It's odd that none of the usual news outlets for this type of thing mentioned an updated MacPro. They're gushing over the updated MacBookPro machines - thinner, etc. The other thing MacBookPro related is that the 17 inch model has been deleted from the lineup. Go to the MacBookPro page on Apple's site and the 17" is no longer listed, only the 15" model.

Who cares about the bulky 17 incher when the 15 incher has Retina?

I would like to point out on the positive side, that you can now get a special order six core for $700 less than you could yesterday, and a 12 core for $1200 less.

In addition, these come with double the amount of Ram they previously had.
