Getting Reason midi into protools!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here is my issue:
Load reason and assign instrument tracks to it, I can record from reason to protools but when I try to play something recorded in reason and then bring to protools it gives a blank midi track. Is what Im trying to do possible? I have all my sounds in Reason and want to just assign tracks to the instruments and hit record in Pro Tools to bring them over from reason how I sequenced them. Also in redrum the paste to track option doesnt work when protools is running. All I can do is play live and record. Any help is appreciated. |

Re: Getting Reason midi into protools!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You cannot (currently) record MIDI from Reason into Pro Tools. You can export the MIDI from Reason, and then import it into Pro Tools if you want.
I still don't see why you would be trying to do that, though, as the transports are locked and whenever you press play your tracks will play in reason just like they would if you imported the MIDI into Pro Tools. Now, if you're talking about recording the audio output from Reason onto a Pro Tools audio track, that's a different story (and a different question).

Re: Getting Reason midi into protools!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You can send/receive (and therefore record) midi from one program to another in OS X using a free program Midi Patchbay:
http://pete.yandell.com/software/ There something called Midi Yoke (?) which does the same thing in Windows. I think that's what it's called. It's a little difficult to set up at first, and you must understand midi I/O flow from each application. But of course it's possible. BUT: I suggest you just use reason in rewire.
