Just came across this problem as well. 16 tracks on a large session just stopped passing audio. Meters were working, just no sound. Moving any fader of the grouped tracks corrected the problem. This is an insidious bug as you don't ever know if all your tracks are playing back at any given moment. Every thing can be working fine.... you finish your mix, go to print for a client and then things are missing that you may or may not catch!!!! NOT GOOD. For a studio to pay $1500.00 for this privilege (v.8>v.10), is a little insane. At this time you can't really trust PT10 as in previous versions. Hopefully this gets fixed pronto.

Just getting caught up on this thread.

Thanks for responding DTS

My problem, DigiTechSupt, is that none of the user posts here describing their interaction with tech support had anything from tech support even close to the simple things needed to make this bug appear. There were convoluted things to do from them that were supposed to make this happen, or there were very minimal attempts for a fix (like having the DSP Cache turned off). It doesn't take much at all to make this happen, just normal things, as described very clearly in my original posts.

In addition it seemed like most or all the mentions of tech support here were non-US Tech support. SO IT SEEMED like to a lot of us that Stateside Avid was not paying attention.

I'm glad that's not the case.

Great, glad we're communicating.

Both examples you sited were non-US tech support, hence my apprehension that something was wrong Stateside.

The first example has the WAY over complicated method to make this problem appear. It is much simpler, as again, my original posts make clear. You don't have to go to nearly so much trouble to make this bug appear.

Thanks

I agree. All that it takes to make this happen is to create new tracks. It may not happen the very first time that you create them but if you continue to create new tracks, sooner than later, the problem will present itself.

There is a separate thread about automation not playing back that is also brought on by creating new tracks. Even though this problem is being discussed in a separate thread I believe that the underlying cause of both problems might just be the same thing.

We need to keep this discussion going until this quite hideous bug is eradicated.

Is this still a problem?

I've got the 10 update but am hesitant to upgrade from my working v9 rig

Really want to jump on v10

Hopefully can do by the new year.

Is the problem still consistently bad for folks?

Hi all,
just had another automation fail on my reverb.

Automated it to -infinity.
The fader moved, but the tail was still fully audible.
Restart worked.

Avid, please fix this. This is definitely the greatest bug I've come across, that makes Pro Tools an amateur software.

Hope this is the biggest priority and on my Christmas list.

Timothy

Finally..... same here!
First no automation on my fx and today no sound on lots of tracks!
Now I´ll reboot and restart PT before I print the final mix!
