using acid with pro tools le 5.1.1

hi i'm new to the forum and i'm trying to use digi 001 as my sound card for acid. i'm able to hear wave files in the preview pane but not when i input them into an acid track and try to play them. it comes up with the yellow exclamation and says, the device is already in use. anyone come across this problem too? i tried customer service and they are scratching their heads. it's 5.1.1 and using win 98se so i don't think the asio driver update will help me. thanks
