XMon Listen Mic1 question
I want to use a compressor on my Listen Mic1 and I am wondering if the phantom power will cause any damage to the compressor? Basically my chain will go Mic - Compressor - Listen Mic1 input on XMon.
If this will cause a problem is there anything I can get to filter out the phantom power on the listen mic inputs? Kevin |

Re: XMon Listen Mic1 question
not going to work
a) the mic needs to get bumped up to line level before going to a compressor b) most likely the phantom power will damage the output caps of the compressor (had this happen to a Tascam tape deck that got patched into the mic in of a Neve 8108)

Re: XMon Listen Mic1 question
Thanks for your response. I was thinking i would have the mic going into a preamp then into a compressor and then into the listen mic input.......
Does anyone know of a device that removes the phantom power but passes on the audio signal? Or is anyone doing this differently using a D-Command or D-Control? I am beginning to wonder if it is better to just have a separate Talkback/Listenback system that would stay active all the time. Kevin |
