Default XMon Listen Mic1 question

I want to use a compressor on my Listen Mic1 and I am wondering if the phantom power will cause any damage to the compressor? Basically my chain will go Mic - Compressor - Listen Mic1 input on XMon.

If this will cause a problem is there anything I can get to filter out the phantom power on the listen mic inputs?

Kevin

not going to work
a) the mic needs to get bumped up to line level before going to a compressor
b) most likely the phantom power will damage the output caps of the compressor (had this happen to a Tascam tape deck that got patched into the mic in of a Neve 8108)

Thanks for your response. I was thinking i would have the mic going into a preamp then into a compressor and then into the listen mic input.......

Does anyone know of a device that removes the phantom power but passes on the audio signal? Or is anyone doing this differently using a D-Command or D-Control?

I am beginning to wonder if it is better to just have a separate Talkback/Listenback system that would stay active all the time.

there are ways to block phantom (Iso-transformer or blocking caps plus floating the ground)
